Most of us have become experts at filtering our reality to keep the people around us at ease. We share the versions of our story that are easiest for others to hear, while the real, raw truth of our experience often stays tucked away.
Reclaiming the Narrative is a space to change that.
In partnership with Motus Theater, the Dear Jack Foundation is launching a unique storytelling project for AYA survivors (ages 18-39). This is an invitation to explore your story on your own terms—unfiltered and honest. Whether your experience with cancer feels messy, quiet, or still is evolving, we want to help you tell it your way.
You don’t need to be a writer or a performer to join us: we’re simply looking for people who have a desire to share their experience, connect with other AYAs, and reclaim their own narrative.
The details:
- August 20-23: An in-person kickoff retreat in Denver, CO.
- September–November: 7 virtual sessions to find and craft your narrative.
- November 11-13: A final rehearsal and live performance in Denver at our annual VIP Night.
We believe your story deserves to be heard. To make it possible, Dear Jack will cover all costs for airfare, lodging, meals, and ground transportation. You will also be our guest of honor for the weekend of November 11-13, with tickets included for multiple experiences.
Note: To join the project, we ask that you attend a quick info session first (either Wednesday, May 6th at 6PM MST or Saturday, May 16th at 10AM MST). If you can’t make one of the scheduled times but are still interested in applying, please reach out to us directly at susan@dearjackfoundation.org.
