Let’s be real: December can be exhausting. Between holiday expectations, end-of-year pressure, complex family dynamics, and navigating cancer—at any stage of treatment or survivorship—the weight of holding it all together can feel overwhelming.

Burn After Reading is a safe, zero-pressure space designed to give you permission to drop the shield. No toxic positivity. No forced silver linings. Just an hour to get the raw truth out of your head, onto paper, and symbolically let it go.

Led by Dear Jack’s Director of Programs, Ambreen Maan, MSW, LSW, this interactive session uses stream-of-consciousness prompts followed by a collective physical destruction ritual (tearing, shredding, throwing away) to clear mental clutter and help you reclaim your energy for the end of the year.

What to Expect:

  • Unfiltered Prompts: Focused writing exercises to help you name the unspoken frustrations, family guilt, medical fatigue, or heavy expectations you are ready to put down.
  • The Symbolic Release: A shared somatic activity where we physically release what we can’t carry as a tangible emotional reset.
  • Peer Connection: A supportive space to validate one another in the chat or out loud.
  • Zero-Judgement Zone: Show up in your comfiest clothes with a warm drink or your worst mood. Whatever state you are in, you belong here.

What to Bring:

A pen, scrap paper, and something to safely destroy your pages with (your hands, scissors, or a sink/trash bin nearby).
