Letter from Our Executive Director

Article by:Dear Jack Foundation

Dear Community,

As you know, our Community is at the heart of everything we do at the Dear Jack Foundation. With the COVID-19 pandemic evolving every day, we continue to see the effects of the health crisis extend to not only each of our households worldwide, but also throughout our AYA program participant and supporter communities.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been overwhelmed by your acts of love and support. Whether it’s coming together to purchase “You Gotta Swim” merchandise to support Dear Jack’s mission during this difficult time, registering for Dear Jack’s virtual Community Movement Challenge, sending us your virtual Letters With Love to spread encouragement to our warriors and/or adding your “quarantune” to the Dear Jack Spotify playlist, we are constantly inspired by our community.

With the pandemic evolving everyday, we have had to make some very difficult operational decisions to ensure the health and safety of our young adult cancer patients and survivors and our staff as well as to ensure fiscal responsibility. We have suspended onboarding new program participants to both of Dear Jack’s programs, LifeList and Breathe Now, until late summer. This action remains fluid as we continue to monitor the evolution of the pandemic.

What we do know is that the unwavering support of our donor community during this time means the world to us. Thank you for not giving up hope so we can continue to provide hope and improve health outcomes for hundreds of young adult cancer patients and survivors now and well into the future.

As always, if you have any questions, please reach out to me directly at andrea@dearjackfoundation.org

Sincerely,

Andrea Schwartz
Executive Director
