Balancing a career while managing a cancer diagnosis is a unique challenge for Young Adult (AYA) survivors and patients. Whether you are job hunting, trying to maintain your current role during treatment, or returning to the office after a gap, the “professional” side of cancer can feel just as complex as the medical side.

In this session, Sissy Silva from Cancer and Careers (CAC) will guide us through the practicalities of being a working professional in the AYA community. We’ll move past the “what ifs” and dive into actionable strategies for protecting your rights, communicating with your team, and managing your career path with confidence.

📘 What You’ll Learn:

  • The Power of Accommodations: How to identify and request “reasonable accommodations” that actually help you do your job.
  • Mastering the Conversation: Practical scripts for talking to your boss or HR about your diagnosis (and how much to disclose).
  • Resume & Interviewing Tips: How to handle gaps in your work history and present yourself effectively to new employers.
  • Legal & Practical Rights: A high-level look at the tools available to help you keep your job or transition to a new one.
