Part 2 of our 3-part Parenting Series
Supporting children through a parent’s cancer journey doesn’t end with one conversation—it’s an ongoing process that evolves with their needs. Parents often wonder, “What should I do? Where do I turn?” The truth is, there are guiding principles and resources that can help you feel more confident as you support your child.
At Pickles Group, we center our work around three core pillars of support for kids: honest and age-appropriate information, coping skills, and peer connection. These pillars not only guide children through difficult conversations at home, but also strengthen the way they show up at school and within their broader community.
In this session, Kelsey Mora, CCLS, LCPC, Chief Clinical Officer at Pickles Group, will help you learn how to build a strong support system around your child, discover practical strategies to help them feel seen, heard, and cared for throughout your cancer experience, and leave with a clearer sense of what to do and where to turn in moments of uncertainty.
🧠 What we’ll cover:
💛 Supporting kids with daily emotions and coping needs – Tools for helping kids recognize and manage big feelings, plus practical ways to encourage resilience day to day.
🏫 Partnering with schools and teachers – How to share information, set expectations, and create school environments where kids feel safe and understood.
🌐 Community programs and resources – Where to turn for outside support—including peer-based programs like Pickles Group that reduce isolation and help kids know they’re not alone.
🛠️ Practical tips for fostering stability and resilience – Simple ways to weave the Pickles pillars—honest conversations, coping strategies, and peer connection—into everyday family life so kids feel supported at every stage of the cancer journey by their most trusted adults and caregivers.
