Dear Jack Story Studio
The Dear Jack Story Studio is a virtual creative workshop where AYAs design custom magazine pages, create artwork, and connect with peers. Brought to life by California high school students Amber Lee and Claire Kim, the project culminates in the Dear Jack Collective E-Zine—a published collection of community voices.

Thanks, I Had Cancer Podcast
Dear Jack program alums Tamara and Sarah have launched Thanks, I Had Cancer, a podcast exploring the honest, candid, and sometimes hilarious reality of post-treatment life. They are actively recruiting guests to discuss survivorship, mental health, relationships, and identity. Apply to be a guest here.
Cancer Unfiltered Magazine
Founded by Dear Jack alum Sara, Cancer Unfiltered is a magazine created by and for the cancer community. It offers a raw and real space for the parts of the experience that rarely make it into traditional awareness conversations. No writing experience needed, and patients, survivors, and caregivers across all diagnoses and stages are welcome. Submit your story on their website for a chance to be featured.
Research Partnerships
We are proud to highlight research initiatives designed to amplify AYA stories.
- Meaning-Making Photovoice Study (CSU): We are inviting adolescents and young adults ages 10–39 who have been diagnosed with cancer to participate in a research study exploring how AYAs understand and make meaning of their cancer experiences. Participants will take part in a one-on-one virtual interview and can optionally use photographs to help share their experiences. Participants also have the opportunity to join the study as Youth Research Partners, working alongside the research team to help interpret findings and shape how the study is shared with the broader cancer community. Participants will receive Amazon e-gift cards for their participation, and caregivers are invited to participate as well.
- Human Flourishing Storytelling Study (Boston College): AYAs diagnosed with cancer between the ages of 15 and 24—regardless of their current age—are invited to participate, in this 5-week digital storytelling program. You may participate with a storytelling partner of your choice, such as a family member, friend, or healthcare provider, or participate solo.
