Dear Jack,
On August 18th, 2011 I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the age of 14. My experience was a pretty unique one. I’m happy to say that after 5 years, 28 surgeries (including a lung removal, a toe amputation and brain surgery), 156 consecutive days inpatient, a 52 day long coma, 4 1/2 years in a wheelchair, 1/2 a year in physical therapy, and a whole lot of personal triumph that I just graduated from high school after taking a three year leave! I got to walk (literally) across the stage to receive my diploma.
Always keep the fire burning bright even when the ones supplying it have stopped.
Sincerely,
Tabitha
