Breathe Now Wellness Retreats

Open to young adult survivors (age 21-39 years old) and their partners who are one to three years out from their last day of treatment, Dear Jack Foundation’s Breathe Now Wellness Retreats harness the transformational powers of yoga, meditation, and psychosocial breakout sessions to help couples renew, learn, and grow as they live their lives together post cancer.

These four-day retreats are professionally guided and thoughtfully designed to foster community and connection, both individually and as a group, through daily yoga and mindfulness practices, psychosocial sessions, and nutritional support, with an emphasis on healing the mind and body.

We are currently taking applications for our next retreat! This retreat is for LGBTQ Survivors and will take place in Serenbe, Georgia from August 8th – 12th.

Breathe Now Retreat FAQs

What are the qualifications to apply to attend a Breathe Now retreat?

To qualify to attend a Breathe Now retreat, we require:

  • Survivor and their partner are between the ages 21-39.
  • Survivor should be 1-3 three years from their last active cancer treatment. Those in treatment for chronic issues may apply.
  • We ask that the couple be in a committed relationship and together throughout (from diagnosis through treatment).
  • The couple must be able to physically participate in activities (vinaysa yoga and hiking).
  • The couple should not be in a significant crisis in their partnership.
  • We ask that both members of the couple are vested in the process and willing to be open to new mindful experiences through yoga, meditation, and retreat breakout sessions.
  • We ask that participants are willing to share their stories and be respectful of others.

How do I apply for a Breathe Now retreat?

Applications open periodically throughout the year. Please complete the interest form to be notified of future retreat opportunities.

At what locations do you host Breathe Now retreats?

Locations for our Breathe Now retreats change from year-to-year. We are always working to identify additional locations.

How are couples supported during the retreat by our licensed psychosocial clinicians?

During the retreat, couples will participate in group sessions facilitated by our skilled clinicians to support them as they grow through survivorship together. Our Breathe Now Retreats utilize perspectives and theories supported by acceptance and commitment therapy, narrative therapy, group therapy techniques, and targeted couples-based interventions. Couples are encouraged to acknowledge the challenges they’ve encountered, their values as a couple, and the strength they have shown during their cancer journey.

Do my partner and I need to have previous yoga experience to attend the retreat?

No, absolutely not. We just ask that each participant is physically able (and willing) to participate in yoga as well as the other activities, like moderate hiking.

What if I have a dietary restriction or requirement?

Dear Jack Foundation covers all costs for the retreat with the exception of travel to and from the resort destination, rental cars, and hotel incidentals (snacks and drinks that are not part of the provided breakfast, lunch and dinner each day). Travel grants are available. Please inquire upon the acceptance of your application.
