My journey started on February 17th, 2020. After leaving my university’s chorale rehearsal, I felt a usual (and a bit painful) bump next to my right nostril. I called my mother, and she took me to the hospital. The doctor scanned me and diagnosed me with “sinusitis.” After a month of medications and doctor visits, the situation was getting worse. My face was swelling and my right eye was pushing out. This was my senior year in college and I had so many assignments to complete, but I pushed until I had to stop attending class. One day, my father suggested that I go to the eye institute. After doing an MRI and biopsy, I was told the most horrible news: “You have cancer.”
I was officially diagnosed on March 17th, 2020, and I had to start treatment right away. Despite my obstacles, I was able to complete my assignments during my recovery and graduated from Cum Laude. I was also blessed to marry the love of my life on December 12, 2020. Since then, I have experienced two recurrences and am currently in treatment, but I’m still trusting my faith for my healing and keeping my head up.
