At 29 years old, my life took an unexpected turn when I was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic low grade ovarian cancer in March 2023. Leading up to my diagnosis, I underwent an extensive 8-hour surgery with the collaboration of three surgeons, a testament to the complexity of my battle. Additionally, due to a full hysterectomy, I will never have the opportunity to bear my own child. I am now a 29-year-old battling menopause and feel like half of my life got taken away from me.
Following these significant surgical milestones, I am currently on a challenging treatment path. This journey hasn’t been without its share of obstacles; these treatments have introduced their own set of challenges, from persistent symptoms like nausea, bone pain, abdominal discomfort, to unwavering fatigue. But, in the face of adversity, my determination remains strong as I aspire for a treatment that surpasses symptom management, offering the promise of a brighter, cancer-free future.
