In February of 2021, at the age of 23, I noticed a lump forming in my gums. I went to an oral surgeon who confirmed that it was cancer and by June of 2021 I was diagnosed with high grade chondroblastic osteosarcoma of the maxilla. The surgery that I needed was complex so I was able to get into the Mayo Clinic to remove my maxilla and reconstruct it using my fibula bone. After this I went through about eight months of chemotherapy to make sure that the cancer would stay away. In April of 2022 I completed chemotherapy and was told that I was cancer free. Unfortunately, just months later, in August of 2022 I was told that the cancer had come back as stage 4 and had metastasized to my lungs. I was told that they don’t know how much longer that I have to live, but the chemotherapy is  buying time. The current plan is to continue chemotherapy indefinitely. I just turned 25 years old and I am doing everything I can to beat this.
