I am currently 26 years old and was diagnosed with a rare form of vulvar cancer about a year ago. I have undergone surgery and several rounds of different treatments, but the cancer has been continuing to grow. Throughout this tough time, I’ve also been struggling with losing my independence. I am no longer able to work or drive because of the intensity of my treatments. This has been an especially difficult reality to accept as I am normally a very independent person who enjoys being able to take care of myself on my own. It has also been difficult to find a community and support groups that I can fit in to since many of them don’t understand the complexities of being diagnosed with cancer at such a young age.
