In the fall of 2021, I started having really bad headaches and went through months of incorrect diagnoses from being treated for a sinus infection to being told I probably have Covid. It got bad enough that I went to the ER on New Year’s Day, but they sent me home with painkillers and didn’t do any scans. A few months later, I finally got my doctor to refer me for a CT and, when it finished, they came out and told me I needed to have someone pick me up because I couldn’t drive home and I needed to go directly to the ER because of a giant mass in my brain. After a day of tests and imaging at the hospital, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. A week later, I was in surgery for a craniotomy, where they removed a lemon sized tumor from my right frontal lobe. After testing on the tumor, it came back as a Grade 3 Anaplastic Astrocytoma. I did six weeks of radiation, and will do 12 rounds of chemo.
