I have actually had two different cancer diagnoses, both by age 35. I first was diagnosed with stage 1 melanoma at age 29. This diagnosis made some sense since I worked in agriculture for most of my life. After treatment, I left farming and moved to Chicago to try something new! Three years later, in the summer of 2020, just as the world reopened after the initial COVID shutdown, I was diagnosed with stage 3b colorectal cancer. So far my treatment has included IVF egg retrieval, ovarian transposition surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and most recently, a colorectal resection. I currently have an ileostomy, and have a reversal surgery scheduled for this summer, and hopefully that is the end of it!
