I was first diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma on July 30, 2018, at the age of 20. The cancer had metastasized and taken over a big part of my body. I had a volleyball-sized tumor in my stomach along with cancer in my lungs, arm, and back. My treatment plan was 14 rounds of chemotherapy with radiation to all areas with cancer. In addition, I had a major surgery to remove a large part of the cancer. During my treatments, I would spend weeks in the hospital receiving treatment and when I was not in the hospital, I was in and out of the hospital for appointments, labs, and scans almost every day. After a year of treatment, I was finally in remission. I was just about two years cancer-free. On August 30, 2021 I relapsed and was diagnosed again with Ewing’s sarcoma. This time my cancer was only in my sacrum. I am currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. My next steps will be either a different maintenance chemo or a possible stem cell transplant. Hopefully, I will get back to being in complete remission following these treatments!
