I was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in late November of last year at 26 years old. I had been feeling sick since August of that year, but I had chalked it up to food poisoning after eating fast food. Without any real family history of cancer, this was not on my radar. Nonetheless, thanks to great doctors, after three months of feeling very sick, we started the (seemingly endless slew of) doctors’ appointments. Then, right before the holidays, I had my first chemo session. I am completing a four-month course of chemotherapy before having surgery to remove what remains of my tumor later this spring. Goodbye, colon! Hopefully, my health will then be in a stable place.
