My name is Cecilia and I am 31 years old and a wife and mother of two. Unfortunately, this is our second time dealing with cancer. I was originally diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017. I then underwent four months of intensive chemotherapy followed by a complete right mastectomy and removal of lymph nodes. I then chose to have reconstructive surgery with an expander to allow for an implant. I almost did not go through with the reconstruction process, however, in hindsight, it’s very fortunate that I did. I’ve always disliked the implant and now three years later it is causing me excruciating nerve pain and will need to be removed.
The fortunate thing is that the pain led us to do some scans and we found that the breast cancer has returned to my liver! We found out about the new diagnosis on Tuesday, September 21st, 2021. We must now face new medication changes including an anti-cancer treatment pill. There will be many scans to follow and monitor as well as surgery to remove the tumor. I am thankful there will be no chemotherapy this time! However hard times are ahead and new medications and two more surgeries.
