On April 14th of this year, I woke up with the right side of my face paralyzed. My older sister immediately took me to the ER but for weeks they couldn’t figure out what was going on. They ran A TON of tests and ended up finding a “lesion” on my brain and guessed I had MS and sent me home the day before my birthday and told me to follow up with neurology. Things kept getting worse, my right arm was going numb and my right leg was getting harder to move. I was in and out of hospitals until May 13th when I had a seizure. I was taken to the hospital by an ambulance, by this point whatever was in my brain had grown significantly. The team of doctors decided the only way to figure this out was to do a biopsy. I was kept admitted in the hospital until they got results. It was a very long 3 weeks, stuck in a hospital room. On May 31st, they came in and told me I have Grade 4 Astrocytoma. Brain cancer. The best course for this cancer is surgery, chemo, and radiation. However, because of the location of my tumor, they can’t do surgery. So now I am just doing chemo and radiation and hoping for a miracle. I was told this is one of the worst cancers to have and I have the most rapid type.
When I am able to, I would love to take a trip with my family and see the ocean.
