On November 21, 2024, my entire life changed. At just 19 years old I never knew cancer would come into my life, especially with how healthy I thought I was. On November 21st, I went to the emergency room because I was having heart palpitations. I hadn’t had caffeine in over 48 hours, so I was confused as to why my heart was beating so fast even when sitting down. The doctors ran many tests and scans and eventually found a tumor near my heart. They didn’t know if it was cancerous or not, but regardless I went into instant panic. I spent the next two weeks in the hospital not knowing what was going on with me and why my body was acting this way all of a sudden.

I had to continue my college work sitting in my hospital bed. I had to put a pause on running track because of my health. My entire life felt like it was taken away from me. On December 6th, I left the hospital and was able to go home, still waiting on results from the doctors on if I had cancer or not. Christmas doesn’t feel the same when you’re constantly wondering about when you’ll get back to normal. In late December I finally got my answer. I was diagnosed with stage 4 cardiac angiosarcoma; one of the rarest cancers in the entire world.
