When I was first diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia at the end of 2023, I fell into a pit of darkness that I couldn’t get out of. After having my baby in September of 2023 and undergoing some routine blood tests, I was told to visit an oncologist the next day, even though I had no symptoms at all. Once I got my diagnosis, my life turned into a whirlwind. I got a port put in, and then immediately prepared to be away from my family to prepare for my bone marrow transplant. I felt so alone and lost. I have a 4-year-old son, a 3-year-old daughter, and 1-year-old daughter. All my kids knew was that I was in the hospital. My family stepped up to take care of everything while I was away. In February of 2024, I was able to get my bone marrow transplant, and I had been in remission for several months until my relapse in October. I am now in the process of trying a second treatment option.
