Darren Shames is a Managing Director in Interest Rate Sales at Nomura Securities in New York City. Nomura, Japan’s leading investment bank and brokerage house, performs trading, equity and bond underwriting, research, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) advisory services. Previously, Darren ran U.S. Interest Rate Sales at the Royal Bank of Scotland and, before that, served as a Managing Director at Bear Stearns.
Darren attended Bucknell University, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Arts and Sciences. Originally from Philadelphia, Darren now resides in Greenwich, Connecticut, with his wife Meredith and son William. Darren believes in the importance of giving back to the community and supports charitable organizations such as the Robin Hood organization, American Cancer Society, Greenwich Hospital, and the Wall Street Tennis Challenge, which benefits Ovarian Cancer Research.
After several friends and colleagues were diagnosed with cancer, Darren began searching for charities to work with that supported initiatives directly benefiting adolescents and young adults (AYA) diagnosed with cancer. DJF and Andrew McMahon have brought awareness to the shortfalls in treatment, support, and research for this specific demographic. Darren is excited to help their efforts in raising money and awareness for the specific challenges the AYA community faces, during and post-treatment.
